Plank: a board you buy, then build. Servant: a helper in your house who fetches more. Mahogany Homes: slower contracts in other people's houses.
Unlock
You can start at level 1. A servant (a helper in your house) comes later. The mythical cape rack wants Dragon Slayer II.

Inventory
Wear the carpenter's outfit if you have it. Bring a crystal saw. The servant is the real tool. Bring only what this method uses. Leave the spare gear in the bank.
Money fork
You buy this skill. Oak planks and mahogany planks are the bill. Mahogany Homes costs less and is slower. Check the wiki for this month's price.
Iron fork
If you cannot buy the supplies, gather them yourself. Stay on the earlier step until you have them.
Kit
Wear the carpenter's outfit if you have it. Bring a crystal saw. The servant is the real tool.
Mistakes
Do not build with no servant once you can hire one. Do not buy mahogany at level 40.
Stop
Stop when you have the level you came for. A quest, a prayer, or a weapon. Level 99 is a cape. You do not need it to use the skill.
