Invention

Invention is junk you can lose, and one item you will keep. This page is the RuneScape sheet. Do not disassemble the weapon you still use.

Invention in RuneScape

Words on this page

Disassemble: break junk into parts. Augment: attach a tool to an item you will keep. Siphon: take the levels off without breaking it.

Unlock

You need 80 Smithing, 80 Crafting, 80 Divination, and the tutorial. Augmentors and siphons come after.

The route

  • Early

    Method
Do the tutorial, then break cheap junk.

    Stand at an inventor's workbench.
    Click
Click disassemble on items you can lose.
    Leave
Leave the weapon you still swing.
  • Mid

    Method
Augment a weapon you will keep, then siphon it.

    Stand wherever you already fight.
    Click
Click the siphon when it is ready.
    Leave
Leave a blog that tells you to break that weapon.

Click siphon, not disassemble, on the good item.
    Leave
Leave a gimmick you bought only to break.

Inventory

Wear the augmented item. Use the perk the wiki ranks for that slot. Break junk armour you were going to throw out. Bring only what this method uses. Leave the spare gear in the bank.

Money fork

Components are the bank. Turning a weapon you still use into parts is not a method. Check which junk is actually junk.

Iron fork

If you cannot buy the supplies, gather them yourself. Stay on the earlier step until you have them.

Kit

Wear the augmented item. Use the perk the wiki ranks for that slot. Break junk armour you were going to throw out.

Mistakes

Do not break a weapon you still use. Do not buy a toy just to smash it.

Stop

Stop when you have the level you came for. A quest, a prayer, or a weapon. Level 99 is a cape. You do not need it to use the skill.

Official notes

XP rates move. Use the live wiki for the number. This page is the route.
